PRESIDENT

From President Desk: The alumni of Jamia Millia Islamia residing any part of the world are welcomed at common platform in term AAJMI (ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF JAMIA MILLIA ISLAMIA). A university depends, at its core, on the free and open exchange of ideas in a culture of mutual respect. It also depends upon the participation and inclusion of people of all backgrounds, races, genders, identities, religions, ideologies, and ways of thinking.

In research and in education, many of our most important learnings come from hearing and respecting diverse perspectives. It is crucial to have our opinions challenged and to be confronted with views other than our own. For students preparing to be leaders and effective citizens in the 21st century, it is essential to navigate difference in experience and opinion, and to gain an appreciation of the value of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

At Jamia we value our rich diversity. We seek always to do better in understanding and appreciating all members of the Jamia community – learning from others and developing authentic connections with them. We seek to pay particular attention to the needs of historically marginalized communities among us.

Diversity is a wonderful and empowering characteristic of our 21st century existence, here at Jamia and in the broader world. Inclusion is an essential set of practices that must continually focus each of us on the meaningful participation and support of all members of our community. Equity is a fundamental goal as we seek together to create a society of fairness, character, and integrity.
